Departmental Profile

1. Introduction

Rangia College was established in the year 1963. However, the science stream of the college was functioning from the year 1985 with the demand of the local people of Rangia sub-division. During these years the departments has been rendering a very significant role to impart the scientific knowledge to the students in accordance with the syllabus of the Gauhati University as well as basic science is concerned.

2. Vision of the Physics Department

The ultimate vision of education is to nurture, develop and equip the individual student to face real life challenges. Education always plays its role as an instrument to change with respect to the environment. The department considers it to be the fundamental duty to make the students aware of the development of the scientific world.

The Vision of the department is “To correlate class room Physics in day to day human life, develop scientific temperament to explore the nature and to learn and use the knowledge for development of the self.’’

To achieve the goal, the following steps are taken:

1. Correlate the class room teaching (as per syllabus) to day to day life and the nature as a whole.

2. Make the class room lively and interactive and encourage the students to ask questions.

3. Emphasis is given on practical classes so that they can learn the practical aspect of the theory.

4. Organize departmental seminar, Group discussion or departmental Workshops to develop skill on the scientific practices.
