Extension of the department

1. To motivate the students towards basic science and experiment a branch of the Assam Physical Society was formed in Rangia College under the aegis of the Department of Physics, G.U. The first annual meeting was held in Rangia College on 14th September 1999. The branch conducted the Physics Olympiad for high school and higher secondary school students since 2017 under the Assam Physical Society(APS). Presently, Dr. Mausumi Bhuyan of the department offers her service as the general secretary of the APS.

2. All the faculty members are life members of the organization The Indian Association of the Physics Teachers(IAPT). The department conduct the National graduate Physics Examination (NGPE) since 2017. Dr. Monoj Kr Singha coordinate the NGPE examination.
